In watching TV today which I rarely do... I saw about 10 weight loss related commercials or references in an hour. 2 vitamins, an app, 2 eating plans, 2 prescriptions, 1 surgical, 2 clinics.
How the heck does anyone get anything accomplished in information overload and over advertising of gargantuan proportions. None of it was reliable information and all of them require money that isn’t pennies. Wow- I am a specialist in weight loss and even I got confused.
I think in the world of instant gratification and information overload we are getting lost and gaining more weight and getting sicker because of it. Too many promises of “quick result guarantees “ are leading people down the instant gratification railroad to nowhere fast. The saying goes and it’s so true, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. It is.
Weight loss and health transformations do not happen overnight. Many of you have seen my story and may not realize it took me a decade to get my head straightened out and 2 years and face an eating disorder and to actually enter the mindset and make the decision to change my life, 1.5 years to lose the weight and 2 years to reshape my body and surgery to recover the damage I did. I want you to hear this also...
I’m still working on it. The work never ends.
I don’t tell you all of this to discourage you. I tell you all of this to encourage you. I want people to really understand that weight loss is not an instant gratification idea and that it takes the time and effort and consistency equal to no other process you can know. It is a journey. It’s a journey of self-discovery and of learning how to reconstruct a life. We all have failed ourselves on making ourselves a priority. Self-care has become a quick fix/ find the quickest cheapest way process where we have forgotten health needs nurturing and sowing a seed of patience and time. It needs daily care and you need an expert to guide you through this very extensive and sacrificing process to a permanent routine that you nurture every day for the rest of your life. You are worth it. Your health is worth it.
Protect yourself from the advertising world where there is a significant lack of appropriate information and forget about Dr. Google as a source. Commercials and the world of money in supplements and programs are in the billions of tricking you into quick fixes. Please look more closely at your resources. No I am not the only doctor in the world and I am not the smartest but I have more than most doctors. I lived the experience of significant weight loss myself. I have the empathy of being obese and so sick and unhealthy and the loss of self-esteem. I experienced surviving every trick and scam there is out there to fall victim to...
