Chanda Hinton
Chanda is the Senior Executive Director of the Chanda Center for Health, which provides access to holistic, collaborative, accessible and competent healthcare programs to individuals with physical disabilities. In 2009, she led the movement to pass Colorado House Bill 1047, which created the Spinal Cord Injury Waiver (now the CIH Waiver), offering acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic care through Medicaid to evaluate cost-effectiveness and improve quality of life for persons with spinal cord injuries in the Denver metro area. In 2021, the movement evolved and expanded these services legislatively to other diagnoses and to be a statewide benefit.
Chanda Hinton, reviews her inspiring and vulnerable story of spinal cord injury and how she advocated changes to legislation on alternative therapies to treat chronic pain. Chanda, a pain warrior and I review the extraordinary steps she took at a young age to beat contemporary medicines approach to pain.
